ÖBB Rail Cargo Group officially launches TransFLEX: A new stage in rail freight transport

In September 2022, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group initiated a pilot project in Germany aimed at developing a flexible solution for volatile market conditions, complementing the regular TransFER services with fixed schedules, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Since then, there has been significant growth and development of their new product, TransFLEX.

The official launch of this service was announced, marking the occasion together with partners MEV and Alpha Trains at Cologne Central Station.

The fleet of locomotives has increased from two to fifteen over the past year, with 2300 TransFLEX trips completed in 2023.

Primarily designed for clients in the chemical and oil industries, this service offers greater flexibility in terms of timing and volume of shipments.

It also supports multimodal solutions and facilitates first and last-mile truck transport, making it the preferred choice for fast and specialized shipments.

The addition of 600 platforms to their fleet underscores their commitment to expanding and strengthening their market position.

The official start of TransFLEX heralds a new era of flexible and efficient solutions in freight transport, emphasizing the importance of innovation and responsibility to their clients and partners.
