Penske Proudly Supports Wreaths Across America to Honor and Remember Veterans

At Penske, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve, and this year, we are proud to support Wreaths Across America (WAA). Our corporate sponsorship will help ensure that more than 258,000 wreath boxes are delivered to over 4,600 locations across the United States, each containing live, balsam wreaths that honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.

Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization founded in 1992, began with a single act of gratitude and has grown into a nationwide movement. Its mission is simple, yet powerful: remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach future generations the value of freedom. Each December, National Wreaths Across America Day brings together millions of volunteers to place remembrance wreaths on veterans’ graves at military cemeteries, memorials, and historic sites.

This year, the event took place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, when over three million wreaths were placed to ensure no veteran was forgotten. Penske was honored to support this initiative, with our associates and their families volunteering in local wreath-laying ceremonies. By remembering, honoring, and teaching, we paid tribute to the sacrifices of our veterans, reflecting our dedication to those who have served and ensuring their stories inspire future generations to value and protect the freedoms they defended.

Pictured above: Penske associate George Stefanik paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father and uncle, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Lebanon, PA, where he placed a wreath during the ceremony. “It’s always a humbling experience to visit here, but this event was especially meaningful,” Stefanik shared. “I’m honored to work for a company that truly values and supports our veterans and service members.”

About Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is an American nonprofit organization established in 2007 by wreath producer Morrill Worcester, assisted by veterans and truckers. Its primary activity is distributing Veteran’s wreaths for placement on graves in military cemeteries. In December 2008, the United States Senate agreed to a resolution that designated December 13, 2008, as Wreaths Across America Day. Subsequent National Wreaths Across America Days have been designated on the second or third Saturday of December. What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery has now become a national organization with over 3,700 participating locations – all focused on the mission to REMEMBER the fallen; HONOR those who serve; TEACH our children the value of freedom.

Penske Logistics Repeats with U.S. EPA SmartWay High Performer Designation

Penske Logistics has been highlighted as a 2024 High Performer by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay program, in the mixed fleet category. The company is a leader in the transportation sustainability space.

As noted by SmartWay, “fewer than 10% of all SmartWay carriers operate fleets efficient enough to make the SmartWay High Performer list for carbon emissions.”

Penske Logistics annually presents efficiency and air quality performance data to the EPA. SmartWay pointed out that companies like Penske consumes less fuel for every mile traveled and for every ton of freight that is transported.

“We are very pleased to once again be recognized by the SmartWay program for our efforts towards being better environmental stewards, and to aid our customers in reaching their clean transportation goals,” stated Ivet Taneva, Penske vice president of environmental affairs.
